Answer
During a Patient surge or a mass decontamination situation, the Hospital needs an efficient system to take possession of, track, and safeguard the belongings and valuables of the high volume influx of Patients. These matters are often exacerbated by the need to decontaminate the Patient and their belongings and valuables.

Our Policy states that we do not reimburse Patients for lost belongings. With such a

Answer
When Patient belongings are lost during a Hospital visit, it has an adverse effect on Patient satisfaction. Additionally, some lost belongings can lead to an adverse clinical outcome. It is difficult to quantify monetarily the adverse effects on Patient Satisfaction and clinical outcomes. We’re confident though the amount far exceeds the cost of the software.

There is often a connection between a Patient’s belongings and the health and well being of a Patient. Patients often bring items in that relate to a clinical condition or concern other than the medical concern that brought the Patient to your organization. By losing that item, it may complicate the Patient’s condition. Some items with a connection to other potential conditions or concerns that differ than the condition or concern that brought the Patient to your organization might be eye glasses, hearing aids, dentures, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, Oxygen Tank, CPAP Machine, Pharmaceuticals… to name a few.

Our Hospital has installed Patient Room safes 
for Patient Belongings and Valuables. If we have Patient Room safes, can this software help us?


Answer
We are advocates of Patient Room safes. We feel though that they should be used in conjunction with H Squared Software so that clinicians can be aware of items that may be in the room, or on the Patient’s person, should the Patient’s condition, or just a nap, cause an inability to communicate that an item is placed on a food tray or bed table.
